I have had a Tunis Cake most years from 1980s (then they were McVitaes) until 2 years ago and they used to be on sale at Xmas in Sainsbury's, Tesco etc.

Now I cannot find one anywhere! Has anyone got an idea where I can purchase one or even have one made if not too expensive.
Thanks everyone

I think you're out of luck there Maggie, probably wouldn't be anything like the original anyway! My dad worked at Mcvities & brought plenty home.
Moggie! :0?
It looks like M&S had them last year. Maybe they don`t stock them until December. It looks pretty easy to make your own though http://notesfromthevegpatch.com/tunis-cake/
Mumsnet users were mourning the loss of McVitie's Tunis Cake 8 years ago, so it seems that you've no chance of finding that brand any longer:

However all may not yet be lost. Try Waitrose:

Alternatively, if you're good at baking (or know someone who is), Mary Berry's recipe is here:

Oh well done Beun! Looks like the real deal! I did look, obviously not good enough! :0)
Nice recipe 23, looks pretty like the real thing too!
The recipe in my link is adapted from the Mary Berry one so it`s virtually the same thing.
Yes, it's as near as damn it 23, well it is Mary Berry!! ;0)
This is rather long winded but it is a list of M&S products and there is an all butter Tunis cake listed. It even has a product number and was published last month so my guess is that they will be getting them in nearer to Christmas https://health.marksandspencer.com/uploads/pdfs/Vegetarians.pdf
What page 23 x
Elina - just the first part of the food lists.
Thanks 23, I had to take my Kindle off fixed auto rotate, couldn't see all the list x
Are they nice I have never ever tasted one but the curiosity got the better of me and there is a Waitrose exactly where my friend lives in Saltash and she would post me one. Would it be worth her while. Thanks all

Hi 237SJ
Still cannot find it in food list- where is it? I seem to be looking in wrong place. It says 191 cakes but not in there - or is it specifically under Xmas?
Can you give me a page to paste.
Thanks
Moggie
It's referred to halfway down page 2 of 237's link.
are they nice, ie moist or nutty etc
A couple of days after Christmas (two years ago) my local Sainsbury store had a pile of Tunis cakes reduced to £2 (from about £9)....don't think they were too popular. I bought one and was decidedly underwhelmed...Madeira cake with chocolate on top....urgh!
Now, their Ecclefechan cakes are a different matter.....very, very nice.
