When reading part way through a lengthy thread and then posting a reply, one is sent to the end of the thread, would it not be possible for one to be sent directly to the page that contained the post last read?

Can you imagine how confusing that would be? new posts would be lost all over the place. Do what others do - copy the post you want to comment on and put it first on your reply with 2 big slashes at either end.

I don't think you understand what I am asking.

One reads a post say number 56 in the thread, and copies and pastes a relevant section of that post, then adds one's comment and then presses the submit button.

That post then obviously goes to the end of all the other posts.

The problem then being, one has to go back to thread 56 so as to continuing to read the rest of the thread's posts.

Since on lengthy threads one is only given the option of the last 4 pages to go back to, one has to keep turning back page after page before finally arriving back at page 3 answer 56.
Interesting point, in those situations I have two tabs open - one to read and one to add reply.

Thank you Mam, that is a very useful suggestion,

I apologise for the delay in answering, but I didn't think anyone else would reply to my thread.
You're welcome.
