razors in hand luggage?

my son is travelling to spain tomorrow and i am not sure how to pack his razors(he can't get on with electric shavers) it has been suggested that he keeps them in his hand luggage, but after 9/11 i have a feeling that can't be right

I would have thought that they would be better in his checked baggage - inaccessible during the flight so not available for misuse.

Shouldn't be a problem with safety razors (disposable/gillette etc), but doubt he'd be able to take a cut-throat!!
Generally speaking "open razors and blades (excluding safety or disposable razors with blades enclosed in cartridge)" are prohibited as carry on baggage but are permissible as checked-in baggage provided "sharp objects are securely wrapped to prevent injury to screeners and handling personnel".

I travel to France every week, and don't check my bag in. I take razors on board, and never had them removed by security or even been stopped and questioned. I would suggest that it is perfectly OK, to take them as cabin baggage.
