Had one of those PPI companies contact me. In a nutshell have some money coming my
way from a mortgage I had 25 years ago.

Did realise it was a joint one with my ex-wife. The building society have agreed to pay
money but require both signatures.

I can contact my ex wife, no doubt she'll be happy to receive the money too. But how will
it be paid? The chq will have to be in both names I assume?

If you explain about your ex-wife, I'm sure two cheques would be fine with them.

How much is the PPI company, making?

Thanks Chrissa,they are getting 25%
I have a friend who got a ppi payment and the " company" took 50%, is there a system in place where a company need not get involved ?
I'm sure I saw on the Martin Lewis program that you can do the whole process yourself just by getting touch with the ban/building society - thus cutting out the companies.
^ Yes DO NOT let the claims company do it, all you need is to write to the mortgage company yourself and tell them you want to claim. The mortgage company MUST by law inform you of any PPI due and do all the work in tracing it.
PPI companies are legal robbers, all they do is send one letter you can do yourself!
Ouch, Booldawg!!

If you have ever taken out, ANY mortgage, loan or credit from anyone, just write to them yourself, using the MSE site if needs be. They, Have to tell you if you had PPI. DIY, everytime.
