While I was out yesterday OH put something in the microwave for 13 mins instead of 1min 30 secs. There is (surprise) a strong smell of burnt good even though I've washed it thoroughly. I'm nervous about using it again. Do you think it's OK?

'food', not 'good'!
If it still works it's OK. Test it by putting a cup of water in for 30 seconds.

Thanks for the advice. I tried it twice; the first time the water was very slightly brown . Second time Ok, water quite warm though I wouldn't say it was hot - not sure what it should be like.
Ask yourself, would you be nervous about cooking in a normal oven after you've burnt something in it? No you wouldn't. There's no reason why a microwave would be different.

I'd been wondering whether the burning was a bit of the oven and not a bit of food.
a cup of water should boil after 1 min on high...
tuv..that's what I do !!
Now, not casting aspersions or anything but, did the first cup of water have a teabag in it?
Question Author
No, just plain water. I'll try again for 1 mum and buy a lemon. Thanks to all.
I would fill up and plastic jug and give it a good steaming.
