I was born in New Zealand and have been living and working in England for over 12 years. What would be the likely scenario regarding UK citizenship to happen under Brexit with my Irish passport ?

Thank you

Nothing but why do you have an Irish passport?
Are you a UK citizen ? Or a citizen of Eire ?
Probably born in NZ to Irish parents ummmm.
As to citizenship that is still just one of the many things to be negotiated once we leave the EU.
A bit of a hassle though. You have to show your parents/grandparents birth certs to get an Irish passport if a non resident.
Probably not a lot will change. Under the Ireland Act 1949 Irish citizens are regarded as "non foreign".

In addition most people in Northern Ireland have the right to apply for an Irish passport..

But who knows - I suppose I could find myself on the other side of the Irish Sea in times to come.

I was thinking of applying for Irish citizenship in order to retain EU citizenship. As ummmm says tho I'd have to locate my grandad's birth certificate. Oddly, from what I understand of the rules, the place of birth of your grandparents seems to be more important than your own place of birth, but I've not gone into it fully.
You are in NI ichkeria I think?
If you were born there, under the Good Friday agreement, you have automatic entitlement to Irish citizenship/passport/dual nationality without the need for grandparent's birth certificates etc.

I don't live in NI now Slaney, but I'd missed the bit that says you are automatically an Irish citizen if born on the island of Ireland BEFORE 2005.
Given that I and generations of my father's family before fit that criterion then I guess it's a straightforward case
Thanks
