PC very slowly boots up and goes into "Loading operating system" with flashing cursor which goes on for very long time and comes up with:
DISK BOOT FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.
Needless to say I do not have a system disk. Windows 7
Anybody any suggestions please?
Many thanks

Check that you don't have any usb drives plugged in - that can sometimes give that error.

Check the bios to see that you are starting from the hard disk and not another disk or cd/dvd
You haven't left a disc in your DVD reader have you? If you have it will be trying to boot from that and won't be able to find an operating system. If you have, eject the disc and re-boot.

Thanks guys! No USB/CD>DVD's connected. Will now refer to local expert and fingers crossed its not a major costly event....
Appreciate your input.
It is possible that you have C: drive corruption; in which case you'd probably need to replace it and reinstall Windows on a new drive. But prior to doing that, it may be worth either trying to boot off of a bootable CD; or maybe go into the CMOS BIOS settings and ensure that only the hard drive is used to boot from and then trying again.
