Why do the men boxers no longer wear safety helmets, the women still do so?

Good question. I was questioning that myself.

Seems a very strange thing to do!

Do the helmets protect the mascara and lippy?
Great link Tonyav.
How crazy is that? Wear protection, and potentially suffer more.
Yep, sounds ridiculous doesn't it.
.....I can't get my head round that!
It's to do with the spinning effect causing damage to the brain - a helmet increases the size of the head. When a glancing blow cause the head to spin, the helmet can act like a spanner twisting a nut - it increases the rotational force.

If the skull suddenly spins a bit, the brain inside takes a while to catch up - causing concussion.
But, surely the same would happen to women's heads, too.
So invite the missus to a fight but give her the "safety" helmet. (^_*)
Less brains in a woman's head Cleverjo??
The next time my wife gets angry, I'm going to save my brain and remove the helmet.
//And the rules will remain unchanged for women, the theory being that women may lack the strength to administer blows strong enough to cause concussion.//

From my link, that's the theory anyway.
Ok, thanks , Mamya, I must have missed that bit.
Whoosh Mamy, You just saved my skin there. I thought that Cleverjo was gonna monster me after the quip.
Doubt it, we proper ladies don't need out fists to get our own way ;-)
You're not wrong there, Mammy
