hi there , if you have already been awarded pip enhanced rate for daily living and standard rate for mobility and call them up as condition has worsened since the last 2 years a claim was made and to be told would be a new claim, can you retract it? and just continue on the assisting payments received would appreciate any advice many thanks
Just to add, don't trust them an inch whatever happens. I claim it, and my last assessment was supposed to last another few years, but they want to reassess now. The joke is, nothing has changed and never will.
There is a site and a Facebook page called benefits and work, which is very very useful.
CAB I think
I am not sure if any of us know the answer
retraction as you suspect may mean ceasing to claim - oo-er !
I converted from DLA to PIP ( not volunarily )
even tho they said my life expectancy was such that they thought it wasnt worth it
and found there was the usual fifty page thingey to fill out
every box has to be filled out with your disability and not just once on page 1. and you report on your typical day not your best day ( once I climbed Snowdon, no no no yeah in 1972 ). you are allowed to have a carer present at amy assessment and it is an advantage to do so
for a home assessment, a non med is used and then her report is interpreted by a doctor at home base - too many were beaten up apparently
post dog sounds as tho he was in the same boat as myself
I was told that DLA would last indefinitely
and then got a letter saying it wouldnt ( and the letter sort of began - you know you thought you were gonna get this in perpetuity well the good news for us is that we are gonna reassess you on a different scale......)
regard it as one of the many hoops in ife you have to jump thro
thankyou the issue is the forms you have to fill out is quite daunting wouldent be so bad if you still get your original claim if they decided you werent entitled to any more but thats not the case and it all depends on the decision maker as well thankyou for advice tho much appreciated
Polly if you wish contact CAB or your social work department they have trained advisors who will complete the form with you, if you are unable to travel I believens/w will make a home visit. Good luck.
I completed my form. It had to be typed as and when able due to dizziness and headaches caused by my brain tumour. I couldn't write it as I can't control a pen after a few moments.
Made it perfectly clear that I had serious mobility issues through dizziness and the possibility of falling over, and yet they expected me to travel to the nearest city for assessment. They even sent me directions with walking times.
Aaww PP,.I'm so sorry about your life expectancy :( I had no idea.
My CPN filled my form out for me, and she came with me to the assessment, which was done by a psychiatric nurse. I just scraped through with 8 points and got the lower rate.
