Hubby has been looking into this as his parents have been ther and adored it. I've been told that it is 'hurricane' season from June to November, but after a bit of googling the last real hurricane seems to have been around 2004. Has anybody been there at all in October??

Hmmm that's really interesting Mamya
The weather in the Caribbean is pretty constant all year but you do have to accept that yes it is hurricane season and even if they are rare, especially those that hit the news, the potential for windy storms is far more likely.
Not somewhere that has ever appealed to me but friends who have been have regretted not taking Imodium and taking basic precautions against muggings.

I take little notice of hurricane season and so far have been lucky.

I went to Cuba two years ago and was ill the entire two weeks
I know lots of people love it, especially americans because it tends to be cheaper. It doesn't appeal to me either as I believe you have to stay in your complex unless very careful. There is a lot of crime targeted at tourists, especially muggings. I like to be free to travel about.
