Where to Honeymoon?

We are getting married next year and my fiance has decided he wants to go somewhere like Dominican Republic or something like that. I've looked at the prices and think we'll only be able to go for a week. Our 5 year old will be coming along so we need somewhere that is not TOO far on the plane (you know what kids are like) and somewhere that is good for children and families. Can anybody suggest anything? Thanks

what time of year will it be???

only ask as there are some lovely places that unfortunately have dodgy weather when a lot of people choose to get married! Happened to a few friends of mine.

A good bet though is Cyprus.....lovely weather nearly all year round and only 4 hour flight.

If it must be the caribbean though bear in mind that the weather is at its best from November to April. Flight time will be approx 9 to 11 hours depending where you go.

I have only had one honeymoon so far, and that was in Corsica.

Absolutely lovely...

We've just returned from a 2 week tour of New Zealand which I cant recommend enough.

Not exactly a 'lounging on the beach' kind of trip but the weather was gorgeous and it was the middle of their Autumn. And we were told the temperature in Northern NI reaches serious tropical levels in their Summer.

Anyway - it was a fantastic country and SO romantic. My boyfriend proposed on top of the Fox Glacier in Franz Josef. And we're planning to go back to NZ to get married :o)

Beware the Dominican Republic!! Have been on holiday there, in a large complex, and practically everyone was ill at some point. Outdoor dining and flies were all over the food. You couldn't go ouitside the complex because it wasn't safe and electricity would go off without notice at all times of day and night. Our plane was detained at the airport going home until the pilot paid a 'departure tax' and in the tiny duty free shop they made the prices up as you waited. It was the most horrendous holiday we have ever had.
