Help With Computer Problem Please

I accepted a standard Windows update 2 days ago and since then most of my Folders and mail Files have disappeared. Some Folders have been replaced by quick links but with no content. Can anyone out there assist me to try and correct whatever has happened please?

This happened to us. We discovered that we could find our files by opening 'Word' first and then browsing. Hope this helps.
