I need a copy bill from 3 years for a court case, rang and requested from 02 but they say they can only go back 2 years. Does anyone know how long they keep these records for?

Do you access to online bills? I think you should but I am not sure how far back these go

Two years?
2 years?

Hi yes 2 years on the online bills, I was hoping 02 may keep logs for longer.
Have you made it clear it is required for a legal issue? They may try a bit harder - but if they really are unable then you won't be able to produce it in court, but can at least explain why.
If they have told you two years why would you doubt that?
Yes, it's a bit late now but if you rely on online statements for phone, bank etc it's worth putting aside a couple of hours at the end of each year to download or store screen copies.

Lot of waffle here, and 3 possible ways to contact them at the end.

Do you still have the phone? There may be a record of the call on the history
there is a section in there on documents needed for court cases.
The 2 year limit may still apply though.
You could also post on the 02 community forum to see if anyone knows how to get older statements

Thanks Baldric, yes I still have the phone but no history that far. With hindsight I should print off and keep the bills but at that time I didn't anticipate a court hearing.

i did tell them it was for court but the guy wasnt interest tbh. On the SAR it says billing: only 12 months of call/text records are available.
This is why paper records are so important. All this tech/web records, they're not the same despite some mocking those who point out they aren't adequate.

I'm guessing but I'd suspect it O2 had records going further back they'd not have a reason to make them inaccessible. I wish you luck but my gut feeling is that 2 years is it, then it's deleted to release space for use by other data records.

Surely the courts know the situation though ? Or is this simply to back up a claim for your version of what occurred ?
