Since few weeks ago had problem with left ankle only swelling up during the day. Painful in the evenings and pain right over the bone. GP last week seems to think maybe arthritis but I'm 38. Is now b coming painful when walk. Any suggestions. I have a desk job but make sure I get up and about throughout the day. When I get up in the morning swelling has gone. Cannot recall any injuries

I would agree with your GP. There ar many types of arthritis and it may well be that some blood tests and an X-ray of the ankle would be helpful.
Any diagnoses at this point would be pure conjecture.

Are you taking any medication e.g Ibuprofen?
If medication, I know Amlodipine (sp?) definitely causes ankle swelling. Hope you can get it sorted.

Take daily lisinopril low dose for high blood pressure. Have been taking ibuprofen which does help, but don't want to take every day if I have to. GP has not arranged any further tests, just told to see how it goes.

That is a totally reasonable management of your situation.

I would take the Ibuprofen on a daily basis to see if the condition is resolved .
