Ask them
Produce your wife to them.
Or better still ask her to contact them since they may have data protection/security checks to make
Go to the nearest Job center and ask them to confirm her identity (take her passport) Job Centers are part of the DWP .

I have tried to ring them but it easier to speak to god than get a person to speak to. I can not go to the local DWP office as I am disabled. I have acute tinnitus which makes phone conversations difficult and my wife is in France for a week visiting her sister.
Well she's not back in the UK then, is she?
Might be easier to wait until she is back then she can speak to DWP.
How has the query arisen? Have they written asking for proof/? If so it's a bit unprofessional if they haven't given some indication of what proof they need

I do not need stupid answers from anyone thank you. The DWP are relating to her 3 month trip to Cameroon. Not a one week holiday within the EU.
No one has given you a stupid answer. It'll be easier if she goes to the job centre herself but as she's not in the UK at the moment she can't.
Not sure if you mean me, catsrcool, but it would be easier for her to prove it than you, hence my suggesting waiting until she returns again
I don't think it was that stupid.
If she's not here, you cannot prove that she is.

You're going to have to wait until she's back, then she can present herself to a Jobcentre .

The DWP are a complete nightmare. I had to write to my MP to be able to get a satisfactory answer from them on a different subject.
I think they might be better face to face.
the best way is to take her with you and bring ID.
As I said., once your wife is back take her, her passport and the letter from the DWP to the nearest Jobcenter and show them the documents. Ask the manager to verify that your wife is back in the UK by writing or phoning the office that asked for proof. They can use their own internal phone network to do it which is better proof than using a normal phone line. Job center staff are a lot more 'on the ball' than the head office staff !
back in the UK - easy I would have thought - take her down to the local DWP and say - "this is me mam"
OK you are disabled so send her alone

proof of residence - more difficult as I imagine you are gonna say she doesnt have a job ...

whatever you do -dont say to them - I cant show you she has returned to the UK as she is currently on her holz in France.
that will cause long term doo-doo

I mean they have a point dont they ?
you are trying to show she is resident here when she is currently on her holz in france......
oh yeah that is what I wanted to say ...

The DWP have a do-once-and-share scheme / system so that once you have visited them once the info is disseminated on all the computer systems

techno geek - they have got all their computer to hand-shake - at long last

this works quite well - even the clerk was surprised that my visit from three days previously had all the info I had presented ... I was astonished myself
