Did anyone notice a glaring error in this yesterday? It was a lunchtime meal because Maureen was on the 5:2 diet and didn't eat after 4 pm. When the guests arrived, John announced a murder had been committed that night and Maureen greeted the guests with 'good evening'!!

Perhaps she was cheating on her diet.

That doesn't make sense. The guests arrived at lunchtime to be greeted with 'good evening'.
I thought the "murder mystery" was set in the evening.

I've forgotten the characters' names - the maid and the butler - were walking there with the food and instead of all the fuss of dressing up etc. why couldn't John have them round for drinks or for dinner as usual. Then it was said about it being for lunch because of Maureen's diet and as soon as they arrived, Maureen said 'good evening'.
The murder was written as though it happened at night-time, hence John's announcement that "...tonight, murder has been committed!"

They had to have dinner at lunchtime "in real life" to accommodate Maureen's diet.
