Many thanks, DTC and everyone else.

I had a lovely day in Paris yesterday, where it was wonderfully warm and sunny and the beer was good (even if it was around £8 per pint!)

well, Chris was off in Paris yesterday and I thought it would be far better to splice it with Queenie's - if in Windsor, he could have met her and compared AB cakes...... I'll get my coat
You don't have time to stop for your coat!....:-)
Hippo Birdie Mr Chris - may your ales be real and your cats cool.

£8 a pint !, it oughta be the best beer in the world ;-)

Yes happy birthday Chris thanks for all your answers you've given to my queries
Belated Happy birthday.
belated greetings from me too. You have helped me many times & I am always grateful. Hope you had a nice day
Thanks, folks!
I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, Chico, that if you sit down in a café in Paris the price of your drink automatically doubles. That's why I always used to drink 'au comptoir'.
Question Author
that;s our jackdaw, two drinks down to the rest of us......hic.
It doesn't just apply to alcohol either. Last time I was there a small espresso was €1,sitting down €2.
I'd always understood, JD33, that it was dining/drinking 'au terrasse' that was likely to get you clobbered for a hefty supplement!

My £8 per pint figure was based upon drinking in the bar area of the rather tasteful Brasserie Terminus Nord, opposite the station:
http://www.terminusnord.com/en/
but it's still much the same price in the back street 'locals' bars.

The Moroccan beer that I had in an Algerian restaurant at lunchtime though wasn't as expensive as I thought that it might be (and it was definitely quaffable!):

I know that place well, Chris, probably banker country now....hence les prix.....

I made that mistake too, Chico. Prix 'terrasse' also apply to indoor seating, the principle being that you do not order at the counter and then sit down, you sit down and wait to be served at the table.
