Last visit to the beach here before we leave after almost three years. I picked up a small spiral shell thinking to bring it home. Shell less than half an inch long,as I walked back up the beach I realised there was a very tiny crab crawling out of the shell. I have googled it and still have no idea what type it was. Can anyone help ? Of course I immediately put it back in the sea.
Possibly a hermit crab, there are 1100 species to choose from.
Possibly some other species of crab that was just chilling out in the shell.
Did you take a photo?
Unfortunately not as I was just coming out of the sea. The teeny little crab looked to be almost transparent. We fly home tomorrow and I'll do more research then. Many thanks for your help.
Thank you also to Svejk for your help. YES Mintie we are coming back to UK for good. We fly out tomorrow morning on Etihad from Abu Dhabi to Heathrow. i was home recently as my 91 year old Mum wasn't well. She died at the beginning of last month, pretty good innings seeing as she was completely self caring until six weeks before her death. Love to you Boatie and all the crowd and I hope to be back on AB soon.
