Stuck on 6 down. ???/Y????? American with yen to break Geordie employee. Could be 'New Yorker'. (Anagram of yen worker) but where does Geordie fit in? Looking forward to hearing the wordplay. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your quick responses, dannyk13 and Anneyelland. I got the right answer with different wordplay. NE worker for Geordie with Y(en) in the middle. I get it now. Thanks again.
