Hello - my two eldest children have been diagnosed with having a viral rash that is contagious and could last for around 6 months to a year. Apparently if it clusters around the eyes it can cause sight problems. My husband took them to the doctor and didn't quite catch what it was called - any ideas anyone?

hello..... no idea, if i was you i would go straight back to the doctor, it sounds like somtehing that you deffinately need to know more about.

Your husband probably panicked and left without thinking, which is something that i'm sure we've all done before when told something like this.

my daughter got a viral infectin that turned nasty, the only way i could remember the name of it was by calling it motor bike disease. Its actually 'kawasaki' as in the bike!!!!

was it molluscum contagiosum? My nephew had this and I know this can last for quite a few months..

As said above you need to go back to doctor or perhaps your local pharmacist - if it is contagious the school will have to decided whether they can attend school - they will have a book with all the "spotty diseases" in it but they wont be able to say yes or no if they dont know what they are dealing with.

Hello MrsJo49155 - it is Molluscum Contagiosum although all the web sites I have found say that it is fine to go to school and go swimming, etc.

oh my god quick I better become a doctor! They are thought to be passed by contact in children so might be best to at least tell their playgroup/school so that they are aware of it....cant really do anything if they are younger children. if you google it there are some different remedies suggested to help the process along quicker but I would be more inclined to let them sort themselves out in children.

Good luck!
