P45 Parts 2 And 3

I stopped working 2 1/2 yrs ago. The only P45 I currently have is part 1.

I am very organised and everything is filed in the appropriate place. There is no way I would have separated or mislaid the second part.

My previous employer says it is impossible to reissue it. Any form I am filling in to reclaim tax asks for parts 2 and 3. Going round in circles here. I would swear that I was never given parts 2 and 3 when I submitted a tax refund claim last year.
What can I do? Help!!

A P45 is only valid when you start other work within the same tax year, so I can't see why you'd need it now anyway.
Buenchico is correct. If you are claiming for overpayment of tax in the fy you stopped working (2013/4), HMRC will work on your employment record from that year, which if you did no work after September 2013 will be the same figures as on your p45 you have.
. . . and if you're starting work again now, and your employer has asked for a P45, simply fill in a P60 instead.

Thanks - it says you MUST attach parts 2 & 3. I'll just send them what I have!
Buenchico- did you mean P46?
The people asking for the P45 will be assuming you have a recent P45. As you haven't worked for 2.5 years I can't see why they'd even want the Part 1 but there's no harm in sending it I suppose apart from the possible waste of a stamp.
