/// Britain has not sent any asylum seekers back to Greece for five years after human rights judges ruled that conditions there were inhumane. ///

/// Under EU rules, refugees are meant to claim asylum in the first safe country they reach, and can be returned there if they instead seek refugee status in a richer
nation. ///

/// But Ministers have admitted that there have been no returns to Greece under the so-called Dublin Regulations since 2010 because of a judgment by the powerful European Court of Human Rights. ///

' a simple blood test can (I'm told) deduce with accuracy exactly where anyone in the world is likely to have been born within a few square miles.'

Really? Any links?
If true, a good point, Togo.
The geneology bods and ancestry geeks have whole data bases of the stuff. I think the call it genome mapping (not Geronimo mapping). Piece of if the will is there. Maybe the threat to do it would aid memory loss in a lot of cases.
It’s far easier to determine their last safe port of call. The majority of illegal immigrants to the UK come from France. When they are discovered in lorries at the Cobham services on the M25 it is a simple matter to discover where the lorry came from and what route it took. Unless they claim (and can prove) that they boarded the lorry somewhere other than France it would be easily demonstrated, beyond much doubt at all, that that is where they came from. Under the rules they are not refugees, have no right to claim to asylum and can be returned there forthwith. France can worry itself about testing their blood or whatever.

The trouble is there is no political will to do this because we must not upset our EU “partners”.
New Judge, they all seem to turn up with a mobile phone as well. Why do we not extract the contact details from the devices? Not rocket science if the calls and texts are to Afghanistan or Nigeria is it really.
