at a quarter to midnight even if there was a closer butcher would they be open? How about a cheese and onion pie?
You need stewing, not braising, steak and lambs' kidney. Good luck on your hunt.
A tin of stewed steak, with some red wine added, can sort out the 'steak' part of your problem but the 'kidney' bit might be harder to resolve.
When I was young, if you bought stewing steak the kidney was thrown in gratis.

Only steak the supermarket has is frying steak
Tinned steak? No way, even if they stocked it
Not daft enough to make it tonight
Cheese and onion pie? Why?
Cheese and onion pie? Why?

Prefer to cook my meat
@trt.......Yeah, I've re -discovered Fray Bentos pies,....they do a chicken one, minced beef and Kate + Sidney. Quite acceptable if you cook them right.

Morrisons sell kidney separately or mixed with steak for steak/kidney pie. They also deliver in some areas (not mine unfortunately). I too like to cook my own meat until it crumbles...mmmmm
//Really fancy making a steak sand kidney pie //

Got loads of sand here Daisy. It wont need salt either.
Steak and kidneys are available in my local supermarket. (South West England).
Joking aside, in a hurry, M&S tinned steak and kidney is perfectly acceptable. We keep a tin in the cupboard for 'emergencies'.
