The Hovis ad on TV at the moment with the delivery boy going up the hill on the bicycle,does anyone know if this is the original ad from way back or has it been re-made?

Haven't seen it recently, but I'm sure it was remade not too long ago.


If you see the original version, it is pretty poor picture quality. It may be that the original negative no longer exists, and there is only an old print to work from.


Ads are usually shot on 35mm film these days, and edited and delivered on Digi-Beta, so the picture quality is better than it was.

Recent article in the Mail on Sunday a few weeks back on this very subject. It is the original ad with the original folks and soundtrack but has been cleaned up to make it "of broadcast quality" to fit todays standards

Yep i read that article too in the Mail on Sunday.
With the voice of Joe Gladwin aka Wally Batty from Last Of The Summer Wine too !!!
...ahh but did you know it was directed by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator,etc)....

...and the name of the soundtrack (should anyone care) is called Going Home.
