when you move to giffgaff go on their website they will help you to keep your new number ive been with them 2 years and have had no problems at all
Morning DD
You should be able to transfer number I did it with mine between T-Mobile to gif gaf , T-Mobile and now virgin phone companies have a method of doing it think I just requested new SIM card with specific number with each supplier
What you will most likely need to do is:-
Contact O2 customer services and ask for a PAC number (Porting Authorisation Code)
When you receive your new GifGaf sim card, contact GifGaf customer services and give them that number. They will then be able to take the number from O2 and apply it to your new GifGaf sim card.

Good Luck :)
The following giffgaff link explains the full method :-

Hans.
Just as an add on to they above I think you will find that Giffgaff use the O2 network. So at least you will have a true idea of coverage etc.
I'm with gifffgaff and kept my number. The whole process was easy

thankyou...seems giffgaff is cheapest payg network provider on market.
That's why I changed to them :)
My daughter has been with them for a few years. Liked them initially, but now claims the connection/reception is bad...she's in London.
Ask around your friends first and see what the coverage is like. Where I live Giff Gaff turned out to have terrible coverage and two of my friends switched back as soon as they were able.
I am too with giffgaff and kept my number. It takes a couple of days.
They're really good and recommend them.
