I currently earn £7.20 per hour, which is above the lower limit. So I'm confused about what will happen when the National Living wage comes into force next April. Will my wage go up? Or will all my colleauges get the same rate as me (I currently earn 20p per hour more)?

Completely up to your employer, if he can afford it and wants to maintain his pay gaps between employees to retain experience good chance. If he feels the costs are too high, no chance.
Why not have a chat to him about it.
