Paul wrote: “Whenever it is that they are saying: ‘Peace and security!’ then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pang of distress upon a pregnant woman; and they will by no means escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-3)

Just what causes that false cry of “peace and security” is not stated, and only time will tell; but it will not forestall the coming of judgment.

Have you yet worked out how long it was before the flood that Noah preached, how long it was that Jehovah warned the Isrealites before he allowed the Babylonians to take them into captivity. How long was it before he destroyed Sodom & Gomorah and what about when Jerusalem fell in 70 CE.? Have you not noticed that every time disaster was about to befall Jehovah warned the people, so that they had time to repent.

The Bible tells us that "one day is as a thousand years in the eyes of Jehovah", so what is 2,000 years?

So everything is foretold right up to our very day, and prophecy is being played out before our very eyes - or are you so blind you cannot see!

//The Bible tells us that "one day is as a thousand years in the eyes of Jehovah", so what is 2,000 years?//

If one day is as a thousand years then one year would be as (365.2422 * 1000) 365242 years and so 2000 years would be as 730484400 years . . . in the eyes of Jehovah.
Question Author
Of course, as you may know, people have been talking about “the time of the end”—some say ‘the end of the world’ or ‘doomsday’ for centuries.

The prophet Daniel spoke about it 25 centuries ago. (Daniel 12:4) But nowadays, it no longer takes religious or supernatural faith to accept the possibility of doomsday, it merely requires access to the television news.

if only !
@Goodlife

The reason for complaints about repeated, incorrect, invokations of Doomsday is that it appears to be little more than a cynical marketing exercise. Scare people witless, in the hope that it will drive people (more importantly, their money) into the arms of the Church.

At least normal advertising stops short of scaring you and confines the message to "your life is sad and inadequate without this product…".

Question Author
Do you think that the Bible is a book of a gloomy message of a coming Doomsday and that this is what Jehovah’s Witnesses stress in their preaching.

Wrong, though, God’s intervention as described in Revelation and taught by Jehovah’s Witnesses—is a rescue!. Note what Revelation 11:18 foretells: God own wrath came,.... and the appointed time . . . to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.

Far from being a Doomsday for all mankind and the earth, the foretold intervention by God will mean the elimination of only those who threaten the welfare and peace of mankind.

So everything is foretold right up to our very day, and prophecy is being played out before your very eyes.
So you don't think the appointed time should have been in 1939 when your god could have saved millions of innocent people by eliminating" those who threaten the welfare and peace of mankind", ie, Hitler & his cohorts. Or was Hitler doing gods work?
@Goodlife

Does a country which uses a disproportionate quantity of the planet's fossil fuel reserves to service only 3/70ths of the world's population and has a huge quantity of weapons constitute a threat to mankind's welfare and peace?

Or do you think he should punish Philippinos, Bangladeshis, Nepalese, etc., instead?

Question Author
If you can't see the failure continues down to our day, and the present ruining of the earth has become crucial. The true God made mankind upright, but they themselves have sought out many plans.” (Ecclesiastes 7:29)
They have acted ruinously on their own part; they are not his children, the defect is their own. A generation crooked and twisted!” (Deuteronomy 32:5)

However, the earth will continue to be inhabited, but not by a crooked and twisted generation. The psalmist said that in God’s due time, only ‘the righteous will possess it.’—Psalm 37:29.
Goodlife, if evil exists within this world, and God created everything, then it follows that he is responsible for creating evil. You say //The psalmist said that in God’s due time, only ‘the righteous will possess it.// Do you consider yourself to be righteous?
Peace in the Far East - When?

When there are no defense contractors:

"US defense contractors caught celebrating the financial benefits of ISIS and war in the Middle East"

Goodlife, put your faith in the lord, He will bring peace if you stop pestering him.
Question Author
The Bible says that. “there is not a righteous man, not even one, Rom. 3:10.

So this matter, as many of the Jews were. Many of them were no doubt decent people who did no harm to their neighbors, they were also sincere—even zealous—about their religion. But in the first century, the majority were not righteous in God’s eyes.

Paul said: “I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God; but not according to accurate knowledge; for, because of not knowing the righteousness of God but seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.”—Romans 10:2, 3.

Yet the Bible teaches the doctrine of “justification,” or the way in which a we can be granted a righteous standing before God.(Ephesians 2:1-3)

It upon our accepting or refusing his merciful provision for reconciliation with him, (John 3:36)

So it is not "once saved always saved"
'Peace and safety' apparently but then you don't tend to let stuff like accuracy interfere with your ramblings.

The far east is quite a bit away from the area in question BTW, not that it matters a jot.

I understand there are over £8 million Jehovah's Witnesses . are they all fool by their God.
and there are many more good heart people who are not of your church who believe that this world is coming to an end and these millions of people who believe the same .are fool . And that's there is no God

goodlife, the prophecy has been playing non stop, during every earthquake tsunami volcano influenza leprosy plague various wars,
you will be saying any day
now on your own deathbed...why not live in the moment and be happy instead
of having doomsday on you mind
locusts
The problem is of a non-believer is they have no faith and is like mist that fades away
prophecies of the Bible are like a non stop record which repeats itself over and over again
like the record playing in Noah day of doomsday when he was building the arc. They laugh and scorned him . but they perished
again the record play for the Israelites in bondage in Egypt 400 years they waited for their release. And then it came they were free
and again the Israelites waited for the birth of Christ years later. But He( Christ ) came .
Jesus gave the prophecy that Jerusalem would be destroyed . once again you did not believe in the prophecy of Romans coming .70 CE. went up against Jerusalem. in prophecy stood faithful and true. The Romans left and returned at a later date in . 70 CE. Destroying Jerusalem completely. tiered it down and . the temple completely ,,there wasn't a stone on a stone. Those who got out between the coming and leaving was saved . and because they took note of prophecy . These are long periods of time.. man who get tired or irritated because nothing happens yesterday or today .
The record keeps on playing

History of Jerusalem

Agrippa II (48–100)), nevertheless remained nominal kings of Iudaea Province. In 66 CE the Jewish population rebelled against the Roman Empire in what is now known as the Great Revolt. Roman legions under future emperor Titus reconquered and subsequently destroyed much of Jerusalem and the Second Temple in 70 CE. The Second Temple was burnt and all that remained was the great external (retaining) walls supporting the Esplanade on which the Temple had stood, a portion of which has become known as the Western Wall. Titus' victory is commemorated by the Arch of Titus in Rome. Agrippa II died c. 94 CE, which brought the Herodian dynasty to an end almost thirty years after the destruction of the Second Temple.
