I'm not a technophobe, but I am a technoprat! On that basis, can anyone tell me, in childishly simple terms, if it is possible - and how - to transfer programmes we have recorded on a Freesat Humax box to DVD? Cheers

Maybe you could try copying the recorded files to a USB stick and then transfer to a PC or Apple Mac via the USB stick.

Next stage would then be to convert the files using a suitable application program on the PC or Mac and then burn them to a DVD.

Note that you should check and observe any copyright/license issues before attempting.

For example, some info available at:-
Do you have a DVD Recorder? The simplest way would be to connect the HUMAX to a DVD Recorder with a SCART lead, pop in a blank writeable DVD, select "AV1" (or however your DVD input SCART socket is labelled) as the input channel, press 'play' on the HUMAX programme you wish to record, quickly followed by pressing 'record' on the DVD remote.

Note: this will NOT work for HD recordings as I believe they are encrypted.

The HUMAX-->USB-->PC-->DVD or HUMAX-->ftp-->PC-->DVD route will work as well but requires a lot more additional steps and software involvement.

Thanks for your answers; I shall pass them to my technical guru (wife!) when she gets home this evening. Words such as stick, burn and scart merely frighten me!
