My mobile records in mp4 but I need to convert it to an avi file.
What's the best way to do this please?
I am a bear of very little brain, so please talk in baby techspeak if you would be so kind.
Here comes the science bit:

Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

Computer
Pentium (R) Dual-Core CPU
E5300 @ 2.60 GHz
2.60 GHz, 3.00 GB of RAM

Thank you.

Have you got VLC on your computer? If not, why not??? (It's about a zillion times better than Windows Media Player!).

If you haven't got it, download and install it from here:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.en_GB.html
(Use the 'Installer Package' link).

Then you'll be able to play your video files far better than with Windows Media Player. (VLC plays loads of formats that Windows Media Player refuses to recognise).

However you'll also be able to convert files from one format to another (which is what you actually asked about).

I agree with Chris (Buenchico) on that one, I'm also on XP no need to get codecs for the things you'd like to convert and play... VLC player is brilliant for sorting things like that and easy to use.
