Hi all. I have a laptop which has no power light indicating when connected to a power socket and does not turn on. Does not turn on when battery is inserted. Power pack and battery work fine on another similar model laptop. Input power jack is receiving current at motherboard end. Tried holding power button for 2-3 minutes to perform power reset. Does not look like there is any damage to motherboard either from short-out or liquid spillage. Any ideas would be welcome!

It would be interesting to know the make and model of your laptop.

Meanwhile perhaps the following link is of some help to you.

Thanks very much. I will report back.

It's a Toshiba C850.
Have you tried holding down the power button for 20 seconds with battery removed and charger disconnected. Then reconnect and switch on.

Hopefully you may have some luck and at least a power light will come on.

Tried power reset to no avail! Also disconnected ram, hard drive, screen and replaced bios battery but still no luck. I think the motherboard has failed. Thanks for the advice anyway!
You are right to think that the Motherboard has packed up. Sorry to have come to that conclusion.
