can anyone give me any help on how to make an easy to do mayo samwhich filler with tandoori , tikka , coronation. i remember a few years ago i used to buy baguettes with these fillings all with chicken and i loved them. though cannot or have not seen them in years since the deli shop closed.

is it best to fry tandoori paste then add to mayo ?
tandoori or tikka powder added to mayonaise ?

or marinade the chicken in powder and yogurt then cook then slice chicken into baguette then add mayo.

my local wholesale food has a large tub of tikka mayo though its £16 just for about a half litre of this.

Why don't you get a large pot of plain Greek yoghurt and spoon Patak's Tandoori paste into it and give it a good mix. Then marinade your cooked chicken strips with it ?
Question Author
ive heard or read that you need to cook / fry the paste first. ( pataks curry paste )
wont the yohurt ( greek ) go off if not used unlike mayo ? use greek yogurt or can i use natural ?

just watched a video teaching how to make masala, there was around 10 different herbs and spices mixed , cooked then crushed in a pestal bowl, surely far handier and easier to buy a tikka / tandoori powder mix ?

need advice on this as there are just too many variations and really whats the point of me going out buying all these different spices etc if i can get away with using a powder or a paste which ultimately will taste the same ?
Corontation chicken is just mayononnaise and curry powder, with onion or chutney as to your taste, very simple.

to make tandoori chicken for a samwhich filling i just marinated 2 fillets in pataks tandoori paste for 4 hrs, covered in red food colouring just for show.
then bunged them into oven the oven untill ready , let cool then slice up and add them to a wrap or a garlic and coriander nan bread. add mayo, tomatoe, sliced red peppers, sliced red onion, lettuce and mayo.

sounds ok ?
I'd leave food colouring out...it's not necessary, and can be an allergen for some.
I always use yoghurt when making tandoori, usually do a whole chicken.

mam....do you cover the whole chicken with tandoori paste ? do you marinate it overnight ? cut and quarter it, the whole chicken ?

im going to ask on another thread how to make indian style pilu rice.
Tub of plain yoghurt, juice of a lemon, tablespoon veg oil - good quality tandoori mix (or a good paste) , you can add a cinnamon stick some curry leaves etc.

Place whole chicken in large bowl (not metal) and massage all marinade over turning now and then , chill over night.

Wipe off excess then roast as normal, I use disposable foil tray as it is so messy.

thanks. can i do tandoori the same as coronation ? mix some tandoori powder in , add chutney and sultanas etc.
