Romantic Holiday To Seychelles Could Be Filled With Pampering

16:36 Mon 24th May 2010 |

Many couples seek a luxurious holiday away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. A bit of sun, sea and sand would not go amiss either. It seems that the perfect destination could be the Seychelles.

These are an archipelago of islands in the Indian Ocean off the East coast of Africa. There are a total of 115 islands in the group most of which (74) are formed from low lying coral atolls and reef islands. The remainder are the oldest mid-oceanic granite islands on earth.

One particular island resort has been highlighted in an article in the Times newspaper. Located on the country's North Island, Noah's Ark is a new conservation project which is funded by the unashamedly high-end resort. The project debunks the myth that you have to slum it to do the world a favour.

The resort boasts a spa, private plunge pool and butler service. Accommodation comprises a thatched villa which faces the Indian Ocean and although the island is larger than Monte Carlo there are only 12 guest villas. Wilderness safaris are also available for those who would like to see the wildlife they are helping to save.

"It's not every conservation project that lets you save a species just by sipping pina coladas in your own private plunge pool," it asserts.

The plan is to turn back the island's environmental clock two hundred years through rehabilitation and by re-introducing many of the critically endangered Seychelles species slowly over time, so that visitors are able to enjoy viewing some of this endangered wildlife.

Wildlife is also a key aspect of a trip here – the area is known for its white-eyes, a type of warbler bird. Turtle nest visits can also be undertaken by holidaymakers.

Green-fingered travellers to the island could also consider a trip to the Kot Man-Ya Exotic Flower Garden, which the local tourist board says is the "ultimate" tropical experience.
