No passport pages left for stamps

I'm thinking of taking (another) extended trip where i anticipate crossing numerous land borders. I don't have many pages left in my passport due to pesky full-page visa's and extensions etc.

what would happen if i ran out of pages in my passport for the authorities to stamp mid trip?

If immigration officers need to place a vignette/sticker in your passport then they will require a blank page as sticking something will obscure endorsements and that is not allowed. So if you have to go to a embassy for a visa then they will need a blank page. However if it is only inked stamps for entry and exit at airports then that can be stamped on top of other inked stamps without obscuring it and most immigration officers in most countries will oblige if you ask them politely to stamp on used pages. So check how many visas you require from embassies. if it is less than or equal to the number of blank pages on your passport you are OK. If not then you will need extension pages.

okay thanks.

It is possible to get extension pages then for a UK Passport?

I am not sure but seeing that most countries have the facility for extension pages/booklets to be added the UK must offer that facility too. But have not seen it yet!! best check with post office...they may have a different application form for that
Many airlines won't let you travel if you don't have enough spaces for visas.

Some Immigration Officers will create trouble if, in their opinion, there is nowhere suitable to put a stamp (bearing in mind that an exit stamp normally goes near the entry stamp).  Depending on the country involved, you might be invited into an office and invited to donate the contents of your wallet to secure entry, even if you have a valid visa.

The UK Passport authorites are very helpful and will allow two passports to be held in certain circumstances.  You could apply for a second passport and use it where the country of entry does not require a visa, thereby maximising the limited space in the first passport.

You might also be able to use the second passport for stamps where the visa is in the first passport.  However, that is a country by country issue and you should check with the issuing Embassy.
