Looking to find a hotel in the UK for a short break to see in the New Year, Any ideas?

Whereabout in the UK do you want to go?
A bit more information would help, please.

Where are you coming from? (For example, if you live in Walsall you probably won't be interested in a hotel in Birmingham!)

What would you like to do during your break? (If you want to go bird-watching you probably won't want a hotel in central London, but if you want to see a couple of shows you probably won't want a hotel in a remote rural village).

However, as a starting point, I'll suggest the Beechwood Hotel. It's run by 'friends of a friend' of mine, in the pleasant Norfolk town of North Walsham. It's a good base for exploring the Norfolk coast and countryside, or for shopping, sight-seeing and show-going in Norwich:

I've visited the hotel (but not as a resident) and sampled the food. I can tell you the standard is exceptionally high. However you don't need to believe me; just see here:
