check the terms.
Many of the hotel chains that offer discounted prices are non-refundable deals.

Perhaps they would allow her to change the date?
I've booked many hotels over the internet and the terms have always stated what the cancellation policy is. Some are more flexible than others, but generally for something over a month away this sems harsh.

yeh rob, that was what happened to us, we´d booked the hotel, then found it was cheaper elsewhere by 15 quid. it now turns out that the hotel wont refund her cuz the price she paid was a short term offer. i was convinced that there was a mistake due to it being booked in advance by about 2 mnths.
