Flights suspended within UK

Morning all :)

Presuming 90% have some knowledge about all flights in the UK suspended due to volcanic ash. It was yesterday planned to resume fights starting 7am this morning however just heard on the news, the delay has now been extended until at least 7pm this evening. Just thought I'd mention it and also see if anybody has;

- Been effected by the delays or know anybody that has (tell us details like airport ect)
- Had plans to fly either yesterday or today? and if so, where to ect ect ??

And last thing, if you are effected and have a flight booked, then contact the airline and you may be fully refunded as some people have been refunded so is advised to contact airline and speak with them, and if you are trying for refund then Good luck!! (your likely to need it :( )

My cousin, his wife and baby are in jersey and were going to fly back today. Plus because of his job, he has to go to lots of countries, and was supose to be going to america on sunday.

My aunt and uncle are staying with us (are giving them to another aunt and uncle today) as they are on a trip to england to see relatives, and should be going back on monday, but even if they can fly, there'll be lots of delays.

Sounds like fun & games for your cousin!!! Don't expect he will be going to Amercia on Sunday. Where is your Aunt + Uncle going from - to ?

My boss is due to fly back today from Spain where she has been for Easter.

I am praying the ash lasts well into next week!!!!!

My Little girl is due to fly back from Oz on Sunday....she's already praying for a delay...lol. She's staying with family so if they can't fly at least she can sit it out in comfort!

a friend was due to fly back from spain yesterday but now cant return until Monday. Shes a head teacher so isnt too chuffed.

Our neighbours are stuck in Barbados (tough life eh?) and dont know when they can return yet, they were due back overnight.

Well suppose it's not too bad in terms of the School's management because of deputy heads ect assuming it's a Primary. Headteacher of primary or secondary??

I am due to fly to spain early monday morning, but was wondering what with the backlog whether I will even get to fly then.

my friend was supposed to be flying to milan from edinburgh yesterday. they were going straight to venice once arrived in milan as she was desperate to spend her 40th birthday(today) there. They rebooked yesterday morning for today and have now done the same for tomorrow - who knows if she will get there! She is not being down hearted about it though - is a beautiful sunny day in Glasgow and hopefully she will get to Italy at somepoint soon. I don't know what will happen re the money spent - maybe she will get something back through her credit card I don't know ??

Update: Some Scottish Airports have approved a number of flights and will be continuing to approve individual flights.

I have a friend who should have been flying from Singapore to Paris CDG through the night but it was cancelled; here in Paris flights are still not running but don't know the update.

No flights until 7am tomorrow now.

Sorry, i've been busy with them round and havent had a chance to get on here since i last posted. They live in Cyprus, knowing their luck, the ash will clear from british airspace, but it'll be over the Med, so the airports in cyprus will then be closed.

but her OH works there and has an apartment, so she's ok

now its been futher delayed to 7am now. hope they have less stressful journey as poss

My cousin is going to get ferry most probably, but the ferry will be to somewhere like poole, and their car is in manchester airport and their nearest relative is his brother, my other cousin, who lives near birmingham. . . .

But my aunties airline have said, that if the airport is open, when you're due to fly, you won't be delayed, so they don't have to fork out compensation to more people. But the people whose flights were cancelled may have to wait over a week, before they can get on a flight with spaces. But, if they still aren't flying on monday, then my aunt might have to wait well over a week, before there is a space on another flight.

yeah best thing really, hows he going to get home from poole will his brother from brimingham give lift to manchester?

we don't know, if there are spaces on trains, they might get a train to manchester then drive back to york. But they have a . . . nearly 2 year old with them so all that travelling sin't going to make him pleased.
