My passport expires on May 11th and we are travelling to the USA on November 5th for 25 nights. The latter aprt of this trip will be spent in Seattle and there is a dtrong possibility that we will be visiting Vancouver Island while we are thyere. As my passport has more than six months before it expires I cannont renew it before travelling but it will have less than six months left when we want to visit Canada.Does anyone know if I will be allowed into Canada with this passport. Thanks a lot for any help anyone can give me Ann

As I have been given to understand, you must have at least six month's validity after your date of return to the UK.
ah may 11th. My birthday :)
...And if you apply for a passport renewal before 3rd September '09 you will beat the fee increase.

The FCO website is usually pretty accurate in these matters...
Passport Validity

It is recommended that you should have a passport with a minimum of six months validity remaining.

Says it all. Get a replacement.
According to worldtravelguide:

Passport valid for at least one day beyond the intended departure date from Canada required by all nationals referred to in the chart above The chart includes UK

Still a good idea to renew and beat the fees increase.
