Connecting flights

Flying from Edi to Gatwick last week for a connecting flightto Cyprus all with the same carrier, the first flight was delayed for two hours due to a puncture.We had to purchase tickets from another carrier so that we could arrive in Gatwick in time tocatch our connection.Who, if anyone can we claim from and for what?
