We forgot to change our Morrocan Dirhams back into sterling at the airport in Marrakech and so decided to spend it all on duty free stuff! unfortunately Moroccan duty free shops don't accept their own currency!! Is there anywhere that we can change this ? We have 900 dirhams left.

Moroccan law prohibits the import or export of their currency. You can only exchange money within Morocco. (So you've already broken the law by bringing back Moroccan currency and you'll break it again if you take it back).

Consequently, there are no exchange facilities available outside Morocco. Since you've got about 70 in Moroccan currency, your best option might be to find a friend or colleague who's travelling to Morocco and offer him/her the money for, say, 50. (That, of course, assumes that he/she is prepared to break Moroccan law by taking the money into their country).

I had the same problem in Tunisia ..
sell it to a friend going there , don't
think the security would even worry
about such a small amount ..all the
touts want are $ or ...
I got stuck with some Tunisian money the other day - only about 10; but I just put it in the charity bins for unused holiday cash at Gatwick. (You can change notes back at Tunis airport banks but all I had was coins, which they won't take.)
I did find (though some years back) that they could be exchanged in southern Spain in areas near the ferry ports. (Quite legally - it's taking them into Morocco that is illegal)

Still a long way to go to do it.
