I plan to fly to seattle (USA) and travel on into canada in december. will a british passport holder require entry visas to visit either/both countries.

if you have the link to a website for this info please let me know because I cant find what I'm looking for.

Assuming you hold a full British passport then you will get the green card to fill in on the plane - this is called the Visa Waiver Programme. As of Jan 12th 2009 it is compulsary to fill this in on the internet ( it is called ESTA) and this will give you a 2-year visa to enter the USA. We own Canada don't we so don't believe any visas are required for there...(tongue in cheek)
Correction in my use of language - The new ESTA is not a "Visa", it is permission to travel, It does NOT replace a Visa, if you need a Visa then you will still have to get one. You need a visa if you have committed a crime of moral turpitude and the like.

no visas needed for Canada, if you're just going as a tourist
