hi. a friend told me about this group thing where you have to get as far away from your uni as possible with no money. i.e you have to hitchike your way across europe etc and the person who goes the farthest wins. it's for charity. does anyone know the name of the group that does this? it's not run by my uni so i can't get it from there. cheers

We did it when I was at Uni for our Rag Week -charity collection week.

I can't remember the name of it though, it was something like Jailbreak as we had to go in pairs and be chained together at all times which made for some interesting travel arrangements I would warrant
I did one for Rag at uni as well, called it a jailbreak though we weren't chained together though :)

To be perfectly honest, I did in my feeling indestructible phase of youth and now I'd older and wiser see it as an incredibly dangerous and risky thing to do, especially these days.

We were incredibly lucky but the potential for something bad to happen is significant.

Most people in cars will not take hitchikers now, charity or not, most lorry drivers can't for risk of getting the sack if they were found out so I'd have thought it'd be a very difficult thing to do successfully these days.
