The travel writer for the Times was on television yesterday (Philip and Fern!) and he stated that people in his position know which airlines are the most likely to "go" next. Is there anyone that can advise???? I have some flights booked for 3 weeks time and hope they will still be working. No I won't tell you who with!

apparently easyjet and ryanair and british airways are among the safest companies in the airline business.

The British ones that are considered at risk are Monarch, Flybe and BMI.

those british ones are namede as doubtful.

i saw an interview with head of bmi who said 40% of their traffic was business users not holidaymakers .so they are pretty much unaffected .
He not going to say 'Yeah we are going bust" is he.
In a Recession, businesses tighten their belts and cut down on avoidable expense like flights.
gromit like i said doubtful in the times .

but not as serious sounding as at risk is it ?

though it may just be symantics
I hope for your sake you aren't flying with BMI. I had flights booked with them to Jersey 29th October to 1st November.
Last week I received an e-mail telling me that my return flight had been put back 4 hours. No great problem, I thought, so let it go. Two days ago, I checked my inbox to find two more e-mails from BMI. The first was to inform me that my outward flight had had to be put back 24 hours to 30th October. The second e-mail was to tell me that the flight was now going from a different airport (East Midlands instead of Birmingham). Enough was enough, and I phoned them and asked for a FULL REFUND (which I have received). I have re-booked with good old Easyjet.

Good luck.
The most likely candidates for failure can be found in the various posts (from myself and others) here:

We are going with Thomsonfly....or hoping to. Wish us luck!
easyJet are just as likely to cancel your flight as anyone - there is a barrage of complaints about "easyJet Holidays" which appears to be a tour operation (ie they package flights + hotels and sell it to the customer for a single price) but when they cancel the flight they try to treat it as two separate halves which is in breach of UK package tour regulations.

Their operation at Manchester has been a disaster with cancelled flights (with NO altternatives provided), long delays and shambolic customer relations!
