From the HM Customs website When travelling from a non-EU country (including the Canary Islands, the Channel islands and Gibraltar) you can bring the following into the UK for your own use without paying UK tax or duty: 200 cigarettes; or 100 cigarillos; or 50 cigars; or 250g of tobacco; 60cc of perfume; 2 litres of still table wine; 250cc of eau de toilette; 1 litre of spirits or strong liqueurs over 22% volume; or 2 litres of fortified wine*, sparkling wine or other liqueurs *such as port or sherry; and 145 worth of all other goods including gifts and souvenirs. details here http://www.hmce.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWe bApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageTravel_ShowContent&id= HMCE_PROD_010220&propertyType=document

Thank you, 200? Jees....
But Ibiza is simply part of Spain, which IS in the EU, so as long as the cigarettes and alcohol is for your own use, there's no limit.
The Canaries are specifically NOT in the EU, as the HM Customs state quite clearly in their information.
Sorry mixed up my holidays Yes - Ibiza IS in the EU along with the rest of Spain The info re Canaries is right - my geography obviously has gone out of the window. Must need more coffee and new glasses.
As my friend has told me to do in the past, get all of your fags at the beginning of the holiday and proceed to smoke one cigarette from each box. If you get stopped at customs (a pretty big "if") then you can prove they are for personal use because who would want to buy an opened box of fags?! Only downside is that if you are planning to bring them back for a friend you need to bring back all the same brand. My friends actually brought back a huge cardboard box full back between the two of them and they didn't get stopped at all. It's the risk you take. You won't go to prison if you get caught, just means paying bloomin tax on it all.
