I recently met a woman online and she says she is love with me and wants to move here from Nigeria. She bought a plane ticket, but she wanted 200.00 for the balance of the ticket. Her Uncle gave her the rest,so she says. Then she needed a medical exam which was 650.00,but she was short on that also. She needed 160.00. Now after she buys the ticket and has her medical exam they tell her she needs 6,000.00 for Board Travel Allowance. She first said her boss and uncle could raise 2,000.00. Now she wants 5,000.00. Normally I would not even think twice about this being a scam, but she im's every single night and we talk for hours. If this is a scam, it is very elaborate and very tenacious. This has been going on for a month and a half. I even told her I thought she was a scammer, but she was not detered. This one is a puzzler. I sent her a webcam to prove she is who she says she is. It has not arrived yet. But is there such a thing as a Board Travel Allowance in Nigeria? She does not talk like any scammer I have ever run across. We fight all the time and I hang up on her when she questions me on my honesty or money too much. I tell her She has to prove to me who she is or there will be no money, but she stills im's me and says she will show herself on the webcam when it arrives.

lol brilliant
I think you need a certain amount of money in your bank account to prove at the border that you can support yourself during the time that you are in the UK.
650 sounds VERY steep for a medical exam...

(She can't just move to the UK - unless marriage is an option for you two...or unless she has a British Passport already)

Why dont you go visit her first? Then you can find out if the two of you are meant for each other?
i'm sure this must be a joke posting, but in case it isn't, THIS IS A SCAM and you are a gullible idiot.

if you love each other, just suggest to her you go over there to see her instead
Bednobs suggestion will be the quicker and cheaper option!
Definate scam and "it hasnt arrived yet???" If she bought her ticket when is it for have you checked the flight details even exist! Also no way would she just move here, surely she can use that ticket for a holiday and then go through all the rigmarole once you have met! think you are being sucked in ready to be spat back out again very soon! Sorry!!! Dont fall for it! Ps look to meet someone who lives in the same country online, so much simpler! I just married my internet find after being together 6 years! Good luck

The question was and still is "Is there such a thing as travel allowance money?" And as far as being a gullible idiot read the the first again, numbnuts.
if that was the question then was the rest relevent?

There is such thing as travel allowance money or at least such a thing as immigration checking you have enough money to fund your stay (so you dont go getting a cash in hand job)
I know this is not what you wish to hear but please take a look at this website for the lengths that these scammers will go to. Correspondance lasting months is not uncommon.

If I am wrong and this is genuine true love, then i apologise for not being able to answer your question and wish you every happiness.
This is a SCAM. They are just after your money.

The minute you pay the money you will never hear from her again (or they will ask for more money for something else).

It is a SCAM SCAM SCAM.

Dont join the thousands who pay out money to these criminals.

I have to agree with bednobs, if you pay out any money you are a gullible idiot.
After re-reading your question I notice that they are asking for various amounts of money to pay different things, which is now getting higher.

First 200 for the air ticket, then 160 for the medical exam, now 5,000 for some mythical allowance.

You do not say so but my guess is you may have already given her some money (maybe the 200 and the 160?).

Once they get a person to pay a small amount there is always something else to pay for, usually higher each time.

This is EXACTLY how scams work, start off with a small amount that you dont mind paying out. Once they realise how gullible you are they start asking for more money.

You should realise that there probably is not woman at the other end, it may be a number of different women doing it in relay. It may even be a man or group of men at the other end (why do you think the webcam has not arrived?).

PLEASE realise you are being scammed and nobody is in love with you. There is no woman at the other end. They just want your money.

THEY ARE CRIMINALS.

YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED.
Your scam is similar to the "free dog" scam that was reported on here a while ago.

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Inte rnet/Question535729.html

Adverts are placed in the paper for homes for free dogs.

You reply to the advert and they say there is a 50 vets fee, so you pay it.

Then they say the dogs have to be flown to your local airport so the fee is 150 so you pay that.

Then thay say the dog is going to be put down unless you pay an overnight charge of 250 at the airport so you pay that.

Then they say there is another cost for something else.

All of a sudden you realise you have paid out 500 and not seen your dog yet. You start to ask questions and all of a sudden you never hear from them again.

These are called SCAMS, they all tend to follow the same pattern (asking for money for various reasons) and once you start asking questions they disappear.

DONT FALL FOR ANOTHER ONE.

So,there is no such thing as a Board Travel Allowance. I looked up travel Allowance. There is Personal Travel Allowance and Business Travel Allowance, both of which you pay for continued flying, not just one ticket. You are right,I did give her or him some money and I should have known better. Thanks for the info.
hey thanks so much for your kind words to me! and there is me trying to help you and everything.
you say it's been going on for a month so yu dont think its a scam - if you send the money she/they will have earned 5000 quid, tax free for a month's work - not a bad rate at all!

offer to go there and see what "she" says
What a shame you didn't see the Tonight show back in February (ITV).

They raided a call centre in Nigeria where dozens of young men were working this scam, engaging people in IM for months and months. They stole photos of genuine models all over the world and pretended to be them.

They had amazing databases so they could keep track of their online romance - their own ficticious names and the details of all the people they were IM with, the contents of the conversations. Each worker was pretending to be several different men and women.

All these fictitious characters had problems - ill health and needed urgent operation; victim of crime and needed money urgently; need money for air travel....

Many men and women have lost many thousands of pounds.

I sent this person a letter telling whoever I knew this was a scam People can not be having to pay 6,000 a head to leave Nigeria. Who could leave? Only the wealthy or well to do? They sent me flight details and I found out that a ticket had been purchased from KLM. The flight was on Dutch Airlines. But it still seems to fishy for me. I cut them off.
I agree Ethel. Two years ago, a "woman" contacted a friend, saying that she'd like to be a penpal. Being as though my friend'd had them in the past, she didn't really think it strange that someone'd got her address. She corresponded for several weeks, and then this woman said that her parents were very ill, and would it be possible to borrow some money. The "borrow" soon became a request for higher and higher amounts. A scam of course, and no money was ever parted with.
u should have known better..get yerself back up the dancing mabye the username says it all :O -
self inflicted
Women don't come cheap!
Just send more money

I'm sure then she will tell you about her Uncle the Army General who has 2 million that he is looking after on behalf of Prince Shoveitupmebatty that you could be eligible for a cut of!

You really have fallen on your feet....
Awesome, malfunction, awesome.
