I am going to Sicily in a few weeks with my young children, a boy of 2 and a 3 month old girl.

What are the best brands for mosquito repellants for both body applications (anything for babies), and also for the bedroom? Do those plug in things really work?

Thanks

The best ones are the ones which contain deet - Boots do one but that is only suitable for adults.

And yes the plug in things are worth it. We got some with a liquid in from Boots which was excellent.

this has been discussed on the above thread. The plug in things do really work, after all it's insecticide.
Hope this helps
The best and cheapest mosquito repellent isnt even marketed or sold as repellent, but skin cream.

Avon skin cream is has a secret ingredient which detracts mosquitos. Unfortunately Avon can not market or sell it as a repellent for some strange and bizarre reason. It works very well and has no residue and should be safe for babies. I will see if I can find out what its called. Alternatively, lemon works well but you end up smelling like a salad and sticking to your bed sheets :-)
Eat lots of marmite before you go away...............apparently the mossies hate trying to eat anyone who eats marmite...........

Matrix, you are probably thinging of Avon's skin so soft. I know lots of people who use it and swear by it. I personally have never used it but have seen my friends with and without and it definately works for them.
I have tried lots of things over the years including jungle strength, ones containing deet and lots more, and i always got bit to hell and back. The only thing that works for me is using none at all and being weary of what perfume i use. Also stay away from the poolside in the night time. I seem to get attacked by the pool after sundown but i never had a problem by the ocean.
Also there is a thing called 'click' which if you do get bitten, calms it down instantly so there is no itch. Its about the size of a pencil (AA) battery so easy to carry with you at all times.Has worked for me in the past but not sure if it is baby safe, You can get them everywhere ie boots, asda, superdrug etc. Only cost arpound 5 and i never go abroad without one. Not sure if it is baby safe so best to read the packaging.
But Avon do several different scents in the Skin So Soft range.

Is it a particular one??? Because I have heard some don't work.
Funny Firl, its the Skin so Soft Spray in Woodland Fresh (the green one) that works. Tried it myself and its brill
So sorry I meant Funnygirl!!
Thanks!!

I am gonna get some!!
i heard ''JUNGLE FORMULA INSECT REPELLENT'' was so strong that it could potentially take out a ''PTERODACTYL''!
Jungle Formula is great, I used it when i went to borneo in the middle of the rainforest. If i remember right you only nee to put it on once a day too.
