We are going to Barbados 28th June for 2 weeks and I can't wait! We are staying at the Island Inn hotel on the West Coast and I was wondering if anyone had any advise on the island as a whole, birdgetown or just great things to do! I have heard turtles lay their eggs at that time of year? I would also love to know any advise on great, non touristy, nightlife!

Thank you thank you!

If this sort of thing interests you - the supposedly haunted Chase Vault at Christchurch is quite close to you. If you look it up on the internet it has an interesting history and the events cannot be explained even today. We visited the vault on a trip whilst on a cruise. You can go inside and we took photos. Since it is small inside only about 6 people can get in at once and one photo caught me in it at the back, when they looked at it outside, there was someone behind me - but there wasn't in real life. It certainly wasn't a shadow either. Very odd and the wife of the photographer was so spooked that after showing me the picture, insisted her husband delete it. I don't believe in hauntings, ghosts etc but I saw this with my own eyes and seemed to add to the mystery of this place. As I say though it may not be your thing.
Try to get to Oistins on a Friday night. It's vibrant!! Don't bother on Saturdays though - it's very quiet. Oistins is not in the least sophisticated, but it's a great night out and the food is wonderful. Lots of stalls cooking all sorts of fish, which is eaten at wooden benches, with plastic cutlery, and from paper plates. You can hop on one of the little white mini-van type buses which will stop anywhere for you. You'll have to squeeze in, but that's the way they do it, and once you get used to it, it's fun.

Barbados is really beautiful - and there's some good diving and snorkling to be had too. Enjoy!!
