What, if any, are the difficulties with buying and insuring vehicles in Australia and New Zealand for aprox a year in each country - to live in almost full time. No problems with visas for this and possibly work, but not all the time, so ,is not having a permanent place of residence going to be a problem? Anyone out there done it? Any advice welcome please as help needed urgently to make plans.

Not to sure about how dear it is but I know in oz you insure the car and not the person.. so if there was a group of you it may work out okay
I bought a car in oz when i was there for a year. Their rego (same type of thing as our road tax) includes basic 3rd party insurance, so you dont have to buy any other insurance at all. It is adviseable though.
New zealand is a little different, i had a car there for a year while i was travelling and had no insurance whatsoever. It is not compulsory in any way to be insured - just be careful and you're fine!!!
