Does anyone have any tips on Prague? Places to stay (good, but not too expensive); what to see & do; any cheap flights & experiences of them etc. Hoping to go in December for a few days...Thanks!

try posting this query again at www.lonelyplanet.com/thorn/branches, they have different branches covering different parts of the world where you should in theory post any question you want and get a response, if you've never been there before you'll need to sign up

best experience ive had their was booked through the coop as a package. the hotels in the town centre are all much the same price, but you can get cheaper ones in mala strana whcih isnt too far out. any truly cheap hotels tend to be a good long bus ride out of town. Try to see the castle, the jewish quarter and the charles bridge. The nightlife is now becoming expensive but is plentiful. A must do for the more sedate is a meal at the municipal house, next to the powder tower on the edge of the old town. I ate there whilst the floods were coming down the river, and it was like being in the titanic...posh folks eating elegant meals whilst sirens go off outside. It costs about 30 a head but is well worth it.
If you like classical music the state opera house is worth a visit & only costs about 20-/head for decent seats. I found eating out very reasonably priced (two years ago) & the castle is a must. Might be a bit on the chilly side in December!
If you are looking for cheap flights, I have found that the Czech National Airline CSA much cheaper than any of the budget airlines. I travelled to Prague twice last year and found I saved 40-50 each time using CSA.
Just one small thing: If you do go and use the underground, make certain you validate your ticket by inserting it into a machine at the departing station. Otherwise you can risk a fine. Very pleasant place, worth a visit.
