Can honestly say that I wouldn't go back to Tunisia for precisely that reason. Stayed in Port el Kantoui and it was so in your face all the time, went to Sousse and found the locals to actually be rude if you didn't want to go into their shop. Egypt was very similar so we've decided North Africa is a no.no now.
In most places you probably wont be pestered, with the exception of Sousse (in particular the market area and the city centre). People in most resorts are generally friendly - in fact most street traders have a sense of humour and will accept no for an answer. Port L Kantoaoui is a good place to go if you have teenagers with you as it is very close to Sousse, quite European in feel with enough to keep your family occupied.
I agree with Breezy - they are all pestering you to go into their shops. I wouldnt go back for that reason either. We went in February and the hotel was lovely and clean and the pools great but because it was cold the place was thick with cigarette smoke. I wasnt a bad holiday but I was disappointed by the locals bothering us all the time.
