When I go overseas from the UK I understand that my mobile phone calls will cost more and that I will also have to pay part of any incoming call costs. What about text messages that I send either to someone in the same overseas country as me or to the UK ? Will they cost more than the 10p that I currently pay for text messages sent whilst I am in the UK ?

Yes they will..........my last bill has a normal text charge of 10p for the UK, but while in Holland it cost 21p. It seems to vary slightly from country to country, but it's cheaper than a phone call and you don't pay to receive them, only to send (unlike phone calls).

Thank you Ipek
I used to work for a mobile phone company and how it works is it can cost anything between 20p to 1.00 to send and recieve messages, some places do charge for you recieve messages. How it basically worls is when you are abroad it is the forreign network that decide on the amount they will charge which is why we used to have lots of customers who would run up bills and here was nothing that could be done about them. Your best bet would be to ring your service provider and ask them for an estimate, however remeber it will only be an estimated price because teh forreign networks change there proces all the time.
Hi I work for Orange - most european countries cost 15p, others 35p, best to check with your provider just before you leave as they change quite a lot. You don't pay for incoming.
